In those days (late eighties, early nineties) friends invited him to places where things “happened”, where there was a gathering of people that could be interesting to photograph.  With a six by six camera and a flash Braeckman made  these portraits of the partygoers, Liza Minnelli lookalikes, dragqueens and post-punks. The images of this shoot were never printed let alone exhibited. These images focus on that unstoppable moment when airplanes tear themselves free from the runway and that over-powering other force, gravity. We all know this sensation, it always feels as a kind of  liberation, mixed with an element of fear: there is no escape and one can only submit to surrender.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eHenze Boekhout died suddenly in the midst of working on his Matanna Edition. He was personally involved in the making of the book and print himself, but unfortunately will never see the printed final product himself. My response to this tactile work is more visceral than visual, with its painted hues of blues and browns, ink sweeps and pink tape. The photographic print functions merely as the raw material for a continuous process of remixing and sampling, rephotographing and reprinting. The two men knew each other since the early nineties when Guido’s work was exhibited in Marc’s Antwerp based gallery. In those years Guidi was first and foremost a photographer’s photographer, already held in high esteem by people such as  Lewis Baltz and Stephen Shore. To Steculorum Guidi came across as a photographer with a unique vision, he made photographs that didn’t aim to please, yet they were,  in their own particular way, very seductive.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn December 2021,  thirty years after his first visit, Marc set out to return to Ronta di Cesena. The idea was to take photos in Guido’s village, the street, the house, the garden, the studio.
