The two men knew each other since the early nineties when Guido’s work was exhibited in Marc’s Antwerp based gallery. In those years Guidi was first and foremost a photographer’s photographer, already held in high esteem by people such as  Lewis Baltz and Stephen Shore. To Steculorum Guidi came across as a photographer with a unique vision, he made photographs that didn’t aim to please, yet they were,  in their own particular way, very seductive.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn December 2021,  thirty years after his first visit, Marc set out to return to Ronta di Cesena. The idea was to take photos in Guido’s village, the street, the house, the garden, the studio. Moreover, the poodle’s visual aesthetic—with its stylized coat and theatrical presence—contributes to a rich visual language that both intrigues and amuses. \u003cbr\u003eThe photographic approach within this project lies at the intersection of still life and classical portraiture. In collaboration with the owner, an interior setting is created in which the dog occupies a central, almost monarchical position. This “staging” functions as a podium or throne, placing the animal literally and figuratively in the spotlight. The work is divided into three themes: Templos, Aulas, and Teatros (churches, classrooms, and cinemas). \u003cbr\u003eThe project is grounded in the realism of theatre and its direct relationship with photography; both are constructions of reality. These spaces function as sites where ‘grand narratives’ are produced and disseminated. Moral and social principles are conveyed here, always with the risk of slipping into indoctrination and control.   \u003cbr\u003eEach space also relates to theatre: priests perform religious texts, teachers act in front of the classroom, and cinemas are literal theatre halls where stories are constructed and projected into the black box of the room.
