For this series Charlotte Lybeer photographed dogs, more specifically the poodle, a dog breed traditionally associated with intelligence, friendliness, playfulness, and responsiveness. 
Moreover, the poodle’s visual aesthetic—with its stylized coat and 
theatrical presence—contributes to a rich visual language that both 
intrigues and amuses. 
The photographic approach within this project lies at the intersection of still life and classical portraiture. In collaboration with the owner, an 
interior setting is created in which the dog occupies a central, almost monarchical position. This “staging” functions as a podium or throne, placing the animal literally and figuratively in the spotlight. Dog rule indeed.
